Nebraska Department of Education's Office of Special Education coordinates many activities to support successful transition of secondary students with disabilities as they move from the school setting to adult life. In addition to the annual conference, there are Regional Transition Projects conducting activities for students, their parents, and educators. NE Transition Assessment Trainers
Individuals representing Educational Service Units across the state have been prepared to train other educators in their region to use transition assessment tools and increase the capacity to use evidence based practices aimed at improving Post School Outcomes for students with disabilities.
Services to Area Educators:
Provide training on age appropriate transition assessment tools Conduct follow-up coaching re use of transition assessment Help analyzing assessment results and developing IEP/Post Secondary goals Provide on-site support for new/beginning secondary special education teachers re transition practices Facilitate regional transition networking and update sessions
