The Nebraska Council on Developmental Disabilities is partnering with TransCen to offer free webinars designed to promote community-based days services and to improve
employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. These “state of the art” sessions are ideal for disability employment professionals, special educators, policy makers, families and self-advocates.

This event brings together self-advocates with disabilities from around the Midwest to exchange ideas and learn from each other about advocacy.

The Golden Thread of Transition

Keynote: Jon Paul Burden

Jon Paul is a distinguished leader in special education with over 30 years of experience. Jon Paul has previously held a pivotal role as Special Education Director and Technical Assistance Specialist with the Colorado Department of Education where he provided statewide leadership and guidance to special education directors.

Interagency Collaboration can trick up the best of us. Figuring out which agencies, when to invite them and what forms to fill out makes us shake our heads sometimes and at other times, can trigger corrective action plans. Walk through which agencies there are, when to they should be involved, how to contact them and what to tell parents.

18+ Transition Services can be one of those decisions that seems confusing. This session will help teams discuss elements to include early discussions based upon data, involve team members, coordinate with outside agencies, consider academic and IEP goals to build a comprehensive plan to provide a proper educational programming.

Proof of attendance will occur at the end of each session by completing a google form that will create a Certificate of Attendance that will be emailed out for each attendee (can serve as proof of a transition activity!)
